More Than Numbers: A Tribute to Hispanics Building Their Future in the United States

Every business has numbers. But behind those numbers, there is always a story.
Through my work as a CPA, I have had the opportunity to learn many of those stories: people who came to the United States looking for an opportunity, families who started over from scratch, and individuals who transformed years of hard work and sacrifice into businesses of their own.
Some stories begin with very little. Others begin with fear, uncertainty, or even the challenge of learning a new language. But many have something in common: the desire to build a better future.
For me, Hispanic Heritage Month is an opportunity to recognize precisely that.
The Dream Behind the Business
When we see a business operating, we often see only the result. We do not see the hours behind it.
We do not see the nights spent worrying about how to pay the next bill, the weekends spent working, the mistakes that had to become lessons, or the moments when it may have seemed easier to give up.
Behind many Hispanic-owned businesses, there is also another story: the story of starting over in a different country.
Learning new rules. Adapting to another culture. In many cases, learning another language. And at the same time, working, supporting a family, and continuing to move forward.
That deserves to be recognized.
Building Also Means Learning
Creating a future does not happen overnight.
It often begins with someone who knows how to do their work exceptionally well—construction, transportation, restaurants, professional services, retail, or any of the many industries in which our community is represented.
Over time, new challenges arise: managing a business, hiring employees, understanding taxes, organizing finances, and making decisions based not only on tomorrow, but on the years ahead.
I have had the privilege of supporting people through part of that process.
And precisely because of that, I know that behind the numbers we see on a tax return or financial statement, there is something much more important:
A story.
To Our Clients and Our Community: Thank You
At Lifaver Trujillo, CPA, PLLC, we have the privilege of supporting many members of our Hispanic community as they build their businesses and work toward a future for their families.
That is why, during Hispanic Heritage Month, we do not simply want to celebrate our culture.
We want to celebrate our people.
Those who work.
Those who start over.
Those who create opportunities.
Those who are building something that may one day continue through the next generation.
To our clients, their families, and our entire Hispanic community:
Thank you for working, persevering, dreaming, and building.
Your story matters. Your work matters. And what you are building matters, too.
Happy Hispanic Heritage Month.
